HOW MUCH ENERGY IS USED IN NEW ZEALAND HOMES? ›

Total Energy
  • Residential energy use in New Zealand accounts for 13% of the total energy consumption in the country.
  • 13% of total energy use in 2007 = 62.8 Petajoules.
  • Most of this energy comes from electricity (69%).
  • This percentage does not include the significant portion of land and air transport energy used by the inhabitants of the residential sector.
